Nowadays, in an ever tighter job market, great importance has been attached to an interview by both the employer and the applicant. The interview, so to speak, has become indispensable for getting a satisfactory job. On the one hand, the interviewer can take advantage of the occasion to learn about the candidates, such as their work experiences, education and their personalities, so as to pick out the right person for the company. On the other hand, the interviewee can make use of the opportunity to get to know the job he is going to take up, the salary, the working conditions and many other things about the job he is interested in.
Therefore, the job interview is very important to a job-hunter. But how can one succeed in it? Firstly of all, the interviewee must pay attention to his or her appearance. The first impression is always where we start. Get dressed properly and neatly. Secondly, good manners are equally important. Don’t be too proud, and neither too timid. Just be courteous. Thirdly, the interviewee must demonstrate his aptitude and skills for the job and his knowledge about eh job-related areas. Be confident. Last but not the least, the interviewee ought to be honest about his or her personal as well as academic background.

First of all, by job interview, job seekers can know more about the company they applied. When we are hunting for jobs, we want to find jobs that we feel satisfied. If we don’t have interviews, then we will know less about the company we applied and we will leave the company in several days if we find the company is not what we want. Thus, interview helps us to know better whether we like the company or not.

Three candidates came to apply for an engineering job in my company. I interviewed them one by one and obtained the necessary information about each of them.
Person A‘s general appearance is excellent and the recommendation from his previous employer has proven that he is a very good man. However, his educational background is just so so and he is weak in speaking and writing. Person B has ability in speaking and writing makes me disappointed and I wonder why he is not strongly recommendedby his previous employer. Person C can very well Communicate in speaking and writing and both his educational background and the recommendation from his former employer are equally good, except for the fact that the general opinions about him are not in favour of him.
Well, everybody has his good points and shortcomings and my three applicants are no exceptions.
Then, the problem is which one I should choose and which one is the most suitable for the position?
Before the choice is made, I think it is necessary to point out that we need a person who can do engineering job well. As an engineeror a technician, the person to be chosen must have a solid educational foundation, must be capable of expressing his ideas both in speaking and writing. In addition, he must be hard, working. Good record of his previous work is, also very important because it serves as an objective evaluation of his past career.
After giving a careful consideration to the problem, I have finally decided to offer each of them an equal opportunity to work for a probation period of three months. By then, I think I will be able to select the one who best fits the position.
